La Manga in Murcia - a Great Place to Buy an Apartment.
The narrow strip of land which forms the inland sea the Mar Menor is called La Manga (the Sleeve) and this 20 mile stretch of land is bounded on one side by the Mediterranean Sea and on the other by the Mar Menor. Heavily developed in recent years, La Manga has become a popular and exclusive resort, attracting both Spanish and International tourists and property buyers, in fact property prices here are higher than in most of the surrounding resorts of the Costa Calida and the neighbouring Costa Blanca and to secure yourself a La Manga apartment you will probably need in excess of 200,000 euros.
Located in the Murcia region of Spain, La Manga was previously an undeveloped strip of land belonging to the state, in 1863 it was sold off by public auction. Discovered by a growing tourism industry in the 1960’s and 1970’s, La Manga has grown as a tourist and sports resort.
La Manga is perhaps best known for its exclusive La Manga Club, an International sports and golf resort, famous as the training ground for many soccer teams including the England team. The golf course at the La Manga Club is second to none and there are plenty of other sports facilities to try and enjoy, the club is centred around a luxury 5 Star hotel and spa.
As with much of the surrounding coastline, La Manga has become a popular place to purchase a holiday home in the sun or even for re-location.
